This was Mrs. Anderson's 1st-grade class where I did my Resident Teaching. A huge thanks to Mrs. Anderson for excitedly introducing me as their second teacher from day one. And these kiddos warmly welcomed me into their lives. In fact there was a little confusion as to why they had to share me with the 2nd grade class when I accepted a long-term substitute position. They were always so happy to see me in the hallway and when I popped in on the last day of school.
I will always remember their thirst for learning, their giggles, and their questions.
"Shelly" (name changed) was a student in the 2nd-grade classroom where I was a long-term sub for the last 3 months in the 23-24 school year.
What I loved seeing in "Shelly" was her attitude of always being ready to learn and her willingness to help other students.
"Xiara" (name changed) was a student in the 2nd-grade classroom where I was a long-term sub for the last 3 months in the 23-24 school year.
This note made me chuckle since I had to realize that of course 2nd-graders might refer to me as 'Mrs' if their Kindergarten and 1st-grade teachers were female and they'd never had a male teacher with the 'Mr.' prefix.
"Mr. Lara is patient and kind to the students… he does not hold back and is willing to actively participate in any setting in which he finds himself.
He has been a real asset to our building this year and will add value to any building lucky enough to have him on staff."
(My Mentor Teacher)
"He has proven to be a hard-working, professional, student-centered, and reflective instructor. Furthermore, he is receptive to feedback and proactive in applying new skills and learning to his teaching. He strives to make connections with all the students and to demonstrate he cares about the whole student, not just the academics.
I am confident that Abraham would be an asset to your school."
"Mr. Lara’s preparation and practice have been rigorous, and he has met or exceeded the expectations of preservice teacher preparation.
You can expect Mr. Lara to effectively cultivate a culture of learning in the classroom and employ effective management strategies grounded in strong connections with his students. "
"Mr. Lara developed a strong relationship right off the start with his students which is the core of being a teacher. He is a talented educator who has high expectations of the students he is instructing and working with. At the same time, he is able to differentiate learning for his students during instruction and planning for small groups within his 2nd-grade classroom as a long-term substitute. That is not an easy task and he did all of that with ease.
Abe has a great relationship with not only our students and staff but also excellent collaboration and communication skills with parents, and administration.
Abe is a great friend and teacher! I was blessed to be his coworker while at Ridgeview Elementary. "
